Reader,

In high school, I was one of the executive producers of our TV station.

In college, I led the effort to start our TV station.

Fun fact: My name is still on the Hall of Leaders in the Student Union for that.

I interned at SCETV (essentially South Carolina’s local PBS station) and on a sports show in Orlando.

On the day of graduation, I had an interview for an MSNBC show in DC. On my graduation trip to Europe with my parents, I got the news the show had been cancelled.

I moved to DC anyway, and my first real job (after waiting tables on a dinner cruise down the Potomac) was as a receptionist at NBC Newschannel and MSNBC, where I put in late nights to get more expeirence.

Another fun fact: I was producing John McCain’s live shots the night the first bombs dropped in the Iraq war after 9/11.

My dream at the time was to be the executive producer of the Today Show.

I always wanted to be behind the camera, making a difference by telling the right stories in the right way and letting the people in front of the camera shine.

It’s probably why I’m so good at brand strategy now. I love helping other businesses shine.

It wasn’t until I worked on a presidential campaign that I realized I liked shaping the message from the original source better. So I left the world of TV.

Which makes what I’m doing next kind of weird.

My YouTube show is launching soon!

It’s called Brand Bar Sessions, and I’m the one in front of the camera this time.

I’m not approaching it the way most people do. I’m building this whole show out like a Signature Brand, from the bar set to the opening line to the way every episode is structured. The whole thing is intentional, layered, and unmistakable, exactly how I’d build a Signature Brand for any of my clients.

Don’t worry, though. It’s still going to be a little me. A little unfiltered. I’m figuring out the on-camera thing as I go, and you’ll probably watch me learn in real time.

You can already get a taste of it in the shorts I’ve been posting. They’re behind-the-scenes moments of me building this show in public, and they’re a pretty good preview of how my brain works when I’m doing the work.

The full episodes are still in the shaker, but when they drop, here’s what you’re getting: me behind my bar, pulling apart what actually makes a brand signature. Real strategy you can use to craft and maintain your brand, delivered the way I’d walk you through it if you pulled up a stool next to me.

Here’s where I need you: Go subscribe now, before the launch.

I've still got a some work to do... paint a wall, test my lighting, figure out my editing process, etc, but I want you in the room already when the full episodes drop.

25 years behind the scenes and now I’m the one behind the bar. I hope you'll join me.

Cheers,
Kristin

P.S. YouTube rewards channels with early subscribers. When I drop the first full episode, having you already in the room helps it get in front of more people. That’s how Brand Bar Sessions gets the launch it deserves. Go hit subscribe.

Pull up a seat. It’s time to pour your signature brand.
