Stepping into my Signature Brand era last year gave me clarity I hadn't had in 25 years of brand and marketing. I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
Help business owners bottle their brilliance to create a signature brand that stands out, markets easier, attracts better clients, and scales with less friction.
I now have this throughline. The bigger question I keep coming back to is how someone holds on to their signature brand over the long run, because anyone can have one for a season.
Maintaining one is the challenge:
๐ธ A new strategy gets recommended that doesn't quite fit ๐ธ A trend takes off, and they jump in before checking if it actually fits their brand ๐ธ The inner voice that jeeps pulling them toward a safer, smaller version of their brand
None of those moves looks like a problem in the moment. Stacked on top of each other, they water down the signature brand someone built with intention.
A brand guide won't fix that. Knowing your colors and having a few approved phrases isn't enough when life and business get in the way. What you need is a set of tools you can reach for in the moment to make staying in your signature brand the easier path.
That is what I have been building: a brand operating system.
It's the set of tools that makes every decision easier... What to post, what to say yes to, what to leave on the table, how to introduce yourself, how to write a sales page that sounds like you.
Your brand stops being something you reference and starts being something you operate from.
The full version is what every Signature Brand Edit client walks away with, woven into their playbook so the brand keeps holding its shape long after our VIP day wraps.
Later this month, I'm teaching a free live workshop where I'll give you the first tool to stock your brand bar: the three essential lines that anchor a signature brand and keep it from drifting every time something shiny crosses your path.
I will share the full details next week. For now, save the date for Wednesday, May 20 at 3pm ET.
Cheers to a May full of strong, signature and unmistakable brands.

This Month's Vibe Checkโจ
โจ Two Summits Worth Showing Up For in May โ May is stacked with two summits Iโm presenting at, and both are worth your time. ๐ธ The Retention Games is a Survivor-style retention summit running May 12-15. Thirty experts dropping 10-minute sessions on keeping your audience around. You watch, you vote, you win prizes (including a Signature Brand Dossier from me). Reality TV meets retention strategy. Nadine Nethery built something genuinely fun here. ๐ธAI Unlockedis back for year four, and itโs still my favorite AI summit on the calendar. May 12-14, 45 speakers, and itโs a show-not-tell format, which is exactly what AI summits should be. Grab the free ticket and seriously consider the All-Access Pass before the price goes up. You will want to rewatch these.
โจ Bar Renovation in Progress โ Iโm doing a little bar renovation to coincide with the YouTube launch. The dining room is a new coat of paint and i'm busy shopping for some new wall art that Iโm pretty excited about, and once all of that is done, the cameras roll. Subscribe to the channel so youโre there when the first video drops.
โจ Spring at the Cabin โ Iโm heading out to the cabin today for a long weekend to see what survived after a month away. Winter had been officially declared over before we left for Scotland so I planted a bunch of flowers and bulbs. And then the weather took a crazy pill. Fingers crossed, Spring is still thriving out there.
โ May Happenings at The Bar
This month inside The Brand Bar, we're focused on Brand Uniqueness, the part of your personality that makes your brand sound like only you. The opinions, the language, the small details no one else in your space could pull off.
Here's a sip of what members are working on in May:
๐ธ Spotting where their brand sounds more like the industry than like itself ๐ธ Trading consultant-y phrases for language they would actually say out loud ๐ธ Letting the personality lead instead of burying it after the setup ๐ธ Keeping the lines that almost feel like too much โ โ๐ Join The Brand Bar now.โ
